"Feel Again" is the first digital single to be released from capsule's highly anticipated new album Wave Runner, which will be released on February 15th, 2015.

As always, the versatile duo consists of singer Toshiko Koshijima and multi-instrumentalist producer Yasutaka Nakata (Kyary Pamyu Pamyu, Perfume) and they've certainly hit the proverbial jackpot here, delivering a killer new single that hits you in the gut with some of their most monstrous beats ever. And it's just as likely to be a hit in the clubs as it is on J-Pop radio.

To state the obvious, capsule aren't jumping on the EDM bandwagon here. On the contrary, they've been doing songs with these sort of heavy beats for a decade or so now. They're the innovators that other artists look to for inspiration. So, the massive beats on "Feel Again" might sound like what's happening in the clubs right now, but what's happening in the clubs right now owes a huge debt to Capsule to begin with. For example, check out their 2006 album Fruits Clipper for lots of hard house and techno sounds. And they remixed themselves on the 2007 album capsule rmx, turning their songs into bangers in the vein of what's popular in Europe just now, seven years later. Besides, "Feel Again" isn't purely a banger. In the beginning, we hear strings and then Koshijima sings over piano and electro-flourishes, the massive EDM beats only kicking in halfway through the infectious chorus. And the song would have worked just as well if those beats weren't quite so mammoth.

But the single does include an extended mix version of the song that kicks off with loud beats, though they drop off once Koshijima starts singing and the mix ultimately proves to be very similar to the original version, just a bit longer. It's hardly been fashioned into a generic EDM track, even if there are a bit more sonorous beats. It's still pure capsule, just more of them. And I'll take all of the capsule I can get. -Michael McCarthy
