"Pick Me Up" is Perfume's new video, which hit Youtube yesterday and already has over 100,000 views, which I'd say is a lot because chances are that most of their fans aren't even aware that it's out yet.

For those who aren't away, Perfume is a J-Pop trio consisting of Ayano Omoto, Yuka Kashino, and Ayaka Nishiwaki. They are produced exclusively by Capsule's Yasutaka Nakata. And they are fabulous. Nakata is a genius and anyone who says otherwise is insane. (In addition to Capsule and Perfume, he's the producer of the magnificent Kyary Pamyu Pamyu.)

"Pick Me Up" begins with the girls joyfully singing "Pick Me Up" three times before a nice and punchy beat kicks in along with some serious synth. But that pauses shortly into the song for a part with lovely acoustic guitar, which is not something you'd expect from a Perfume song. There doesn't seem to be a translation of the song available yet, but I don't think it's 100% cheerful as the video has a few scary moments, like the girls standing on top of a building, looking down like they just might fall. But that's all I'll say because I don't want to spoil it for you. In any case, it's the best J-Pop song you'll hear today so check it out below.

"Pick Me Up" is one half of a double A-side single also featuring "Relax In The City." It will be released on April 29th. I have no idea why they're basically waiting to release it until a whole month after releasing the video but they are, so bookmark the video stat. -Michael McCarthy
