The new anime season keeps gaining steam in Crunchyroll’s programming. They announced two new simulcasts, both of which have a little something awesome to give to hardcore anime fans.

Up first? “THE UNLIMITED Hyobu Kyosuke.” Here’s what Crunchyroll has to say about it:

"A spin-off of the original Zettai Karen Children series, THE UNLIMITED Hyobu Kyosuke is focused on the titular character, Kyosuke Hyobu, a man in possession of ESP powers who wants to wipe out normal humans after his former instructor tried to kill him. Also joining the cast are new anime-only characters, Yuugiri and Andy Hinomiya.

The series is being helmed by director Shishō Igarashi, and is being animated by the studio manglobe, who have also produced other titles such as Samurai Champloo and The World Only God Knows. Voice actor Koji Yusa will be reprising his role as Hyobu, with Nao Touyama and Junichi Suwabe cast as Yuugiri and Andy, respectively. The opening theme song is “Last Resolution” performed by Emblem of THE UNLIMITED, and the ending “Outlaws” is by eyelis."

The one I’m really stoked for? “Bakumatsu Gijiden Roman.” Why am I so stoked? Because it features character art from Monkey Punch, creator of “Lupin III.”

The blurb:

“The stage is the close of the Edo period, an age when, not unlike our own time, both natural and man-made disasters left chaos in their wake. Manjiro makes a living helping the people of the troubled capital city, but behind the scenes, he also works in secret to take back precious belongings stolen from the people by unjust political powers and conspiratorial menaces. The people call him ‘Get-backer Roman.’

Bakumatsu Gijiden Roman is a novel, action-packed period anime following the activities of Roman and his friends as they strive for the dreams they believe in, despite the great trials and tribulations of their time. The series may even deliver a sharp jab to our own modern generation. The underlying hope is to inspire all those feeling trapped and depressed by modern society to laugh off the despair of this chaotic age and to give them the courage to face anything even when they feel the most helpless.”
